It's November 2018. I am giving a workshop on marketing automation together with client Norbert van Berckel (Knowledge Centre for Philanthropy) at the Salesforce.org event in the Beurs van Berlage. Afterwards, Petra Nieuwlaat, director of De Waterheuvel Foundation sought me out. 'You speak our language' she said. We immediately made an appointment, because she already knew she 'wanted' Salesforce. She was just looking for a partner who spoke her language. The match was made.<\/p>

What is The Water Hill?<\/h3>

The Water Hill Foundation<\/a> is a community of people with psychiatric backgrounds that meets daily in a clubhouse on Sarphatistraat in Amsterdam. In the video below, Petra explains how it works.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Requirements<\/h4>

Because De Waterheuvel is partly funded based on the number of members and the number of visits by members, it is important that this can be properly recorded in Salesforce. It is also important to be able to record which activities a member participates in or would be interested in. Work experience, education and contacts with social workers and referrers also had to be entered logically. And, because De Waterheuvel likes to let its members participate wherever possible, some members also needed (limited) access for specific activities, such as 'reach out'. This is a method De Waterheuvel uses to ensure that contact is kept with all members, even if a member is not doing well for a while.\u00a0<\/p>

Implementation<\/h4>

All in all, colleagues Arjan Oldenkamp, Daniel van Veldhuijzen and I have been busy for a little over a year. The fact that Petra, as director, was project leader herself and regularly involved members and staff in consultations ensured broad support in the organisation and a very pleasant collaboration.
Last 10 December, on the day of the Salesforce DOT org event at the Beurs van Berlage, Petra and I were not there: on that day, De Waterheuvel went live with Salesforce!<\/p>

Future plans<\/h4>

On our advice, Petra, her staff and the members put their data into Salesforce themselves; partly this helps them get to know Salesforce well and partly data entry is also work for members who like it. The limited amount of data lends itself well to this and it saves De Waterheuvel costs for import by g-company.<\/p>

In 2020, De Waterheuvel will be trained in (the creation of) reports and dashboards and in the use of campaigns. In addition, Petra assumes that with a tool like Salesforce, you will always be developing as long as your organisation is evolving.<\/p>
